If you show these symptoms only, do not rush to the hospital: Georgian doctor

Georgian doctor Zurab Guruli residing in the U.S. has addressed the public by posting the statement on social media:

"Dear fellow citizens!

Do not allow that those doctors who you would have defended at all costs before foreigners to be disparaged publicly. They are still your doctors who need your support now.

Do not panic. A vast majority of the population will easily recover from this virus and will just experience a fever, muscle and joint pain, diarrhea, general weakness and mild respiratory symptoms.

If you show these symptoms only, do not rush to the hospital to undergo coronavirus testing. You stand a high chance of being infected with the virus, and testing positive will change nothing. Loads of information on home care and doctor' recommendations are available on the internet. Print them and hand them over to those who have no access to the internet.

Our aim now is to keep hospitals for severely ill patients who will die if not hospitalized.

Also, take your masks and wear them!!!"

Georgia recorded 1186 new cases of the novel virus in the past 24 hours to bring the total tally to 18,663. The country's death toll is now at 143. A total of 8,338 citizens have so far recovered (278 recent).

Georgia reported its first COVID-19 case on 26 February 2020. The WHO labeled the virus a pandemic on 11 March 2020. Its outbreak started in China in December of 2019. China confirmed it was contagious on 21 January and declared quarantine in its two cities.
