Paata Imnadze, the Deputy Director of the National Center for Disease Control, said that the new academic year might first start in small cities and villages after coronavirus restrictions are eased; they will later be followed by large cities of Georgia.

COVID-19 restrictions were first imposed on Georgia's six large cities, with rural schools remaining open before December.
