"For the first time in Georgia, a patient infected with COVID-19 underwent surgery at the Bochorishvili Clinic," Maka Sologashvili, the Chairperson of the clinic's supervisory board, informed the reporters.
According to her, a patient is a young man who has been treated at the clinic for three weeks.
"A young man had a gallbladder removed. He started having pains two days ago, we tried to relieve the pain with conservative treatment, but the condition worsened, and surgical intervention became necessary. Bilateral pneumonia, a fairly close touch of staff, posed a serious threat to surgery. Fortunately, there is a separate operating room in the boxed sector where the surgery took place. The patient feels good," Maka Sologashvili said.
There are 539 people infected with coronavirus in Georgia.
Of these, 178 have already recovered, and six died.
