It's Christmas Day today!

The Orthodox world celebrates the nativity of Jesus Christ today. The Holy Book reads that Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea. An angel of the Lord first appeared to shepherds in Bethlehem and announced Jesus Christ's birth to them. "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord," the Angel said.

This was enough for the shepherds to go to newborn Jesus and worship him. The Bible continues the story in Luke 2:15-18: "When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about."

Christmas all-night mass liturgy is held in Georgia's Church today. Also today, His Holiness Ilia II calls on his parish to lit a candle in the window and invite Mother Mary to their houses.
