The Ambassador of the United States of America to Georgia Kelly Degnan says talks concerning the release of Nika Melia are underway.
She said it is up to Melia whether he will stay in prison or not. The amnesty law is being discussed, and the country should be able to respond to the challenges.
"Reaching an agreement was an important and progressive step. The process is moving forward. 2019-2020 was a painful period. After long negotiations, it was not easy to reach a compromise," Degnan said.
