High water rose above a river's banks in the village of Satekhia, Khelvachauri region, and carried away a passenger car. Emergency management service employees are at the scene. One passenger out of two managed to leave the car, while the other vanished without a trace.
People were reportedly buried in the landslide in the village of Jocho. Search and rescue operations are now underway. Emergency Response Center has so far received around 400 calls.
Some roads are also blocked in the region, and flood risks still exist. Rescuers have reportedly managed to retrieve a car without passengers from the Satekhia river.
A total of 17 rescue teams from Ajara, with its 60 members, are involved in rescue operations at this point, with more heading to the region. Locals are being provided with all the necessary assistance.
