Leaders of various confessions acting in the territory of Georgia visited the Patriarchy. Catholic-Patriarch Ilia II hosted the representatives of Jew, Muslim, Armenian – Apostolic Orthodox, Latin-Catholic, Spiritual Council of the Yezidis, Evangelic-Lutheran and Evangelist confessions in connection with the International Day of Tolerance.

As reported by the Patriarchy, Ilia II congratulated the leaders of the listed confessions with the International Day of Tolerance and stated that all efforts have to be directed to maintain peace and mutual respect.

The guests stated that their visit is the expression of support and respect towards the Catholic-Patriarch. Ilia II thanked the guests for their contribution in protection of traditional values and strengthening the tolerance.

The International Day of Tolerance was initiated by UNESCO in 1995. The goal of the initiation is to raise awareness of people of extremism and discrimination risks and to support mutual respect.

This day is celebrated in Georgia since 2016 when Georgian Patriarchy and Catholic-Patriarch hosted the guests.
