A "Victory Marathon" dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Azerbaijan's Independence Day took place.

The Marathon started in Tbilisi, near the Heydar Aliyev Park, and ended in Rustavi.

"An event was put together by the Embassy of Azerbaijan and other organizations. Today the mileage was symbolically 30 kilometers, which coincides with the 30th anniversary of independence. As you know, since 1991 we have restored our independence. Today we celebrate this day with our compatriots," said the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Georgia Faig Guliyev.

Anyone over the age of 18 could take part in the Marathon.

"I heard about the Marathon a few days ago. To be honest, I was preparing for the World Cup. I was waiting for the victory because I am the record holder of Georgia in the Marathon, an Olympian, a member of the Olympic team. It was not difficult for me, but covering 30 kilometers was challenging. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate Azerbaijan on its 30th anniversary and thank the organizers for promoting a healthy lifestyle," said the first-place winner Davit Kharazishvili.

The award ceremony was held in Heydar Aliyev Square in Rustavi. Participants were awarded various prizes and certificates.

The event was attended by the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Georgia Faig Guliyev, the Ambassador of Turkey to Georgia Fatma Jeren Yazgan, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Lasha Darsalia, and public figures.

"Today, Azerbaijan celebrates the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution and the restoration of independence, on the occasion of which the Embassy of Azerbaijan organized an event. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the Azerbaijani people on Independence Day. Azerbaijan and Georgia are strategic partners," Lasha Darsalia said.

The "Victory Marathon" was organized by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Georgia, the Georgian Association of Azerbaijani Athletes, the representation of the Azerbaijani Oil Company in Georgia, the Association of Azerbaijani Businessmen, the Khirdalan Music School of Azerbaijan, and Mirza Fatali Akhundov Museum of Azerbaijani Culture.
