According to the Mayor of Dmanisi Giorgi Tatuashvili, a confrontation took place between young people in Dmanisi.
Tatuashvili does not know what caused the conflict, but he hopes that the investigation will determine why.
"Something like this happened for the first time during my four years as Mayor. Things like this have never happened and will not happen in the future, I'm sure. Police are involved, and investigative actions are underway. It is not an ethnic issue; it does not happen in Dmanisi. There may be some misunderstanding between them. After the confrontation, the footage shows people dispersing; no one has been there since. There is a conflict between the young people; someone seems to be trying to speculate on ethnic or tribal grounds; this is a misinterpretation. We live very friendly in Dmanisi, we all take care of each other. I hope that the investigative structures will fully investigate and bring justice. The situation is calm in the city at the moment," said the Mayor.
The footage was spread on the social network, where it is seen that in Dmanisi, on April 9 Street, citizens are physically confronting each other using sticks and various items.
The interrogation of the participants in yesterday's confrontation at the Dmanisi police station is still ongoing.
