Meskhishvili says Georgia is only country where government banned public transport

Georgia is the only country where public transport has been banned, Davit Meskhishvili, the Chairman of the Transport and Road Association, said.

In Meskhishvili's words, the public has been discriminated against by the government.

"They have aimed at mobility reduction amid the pandemic, have they not? But at whose expense they have done so? Car owners who can buy fuel do not face problems. Those who can afford the public transport only do face problems.

Reinvigorating the economy is impossible without public transport. The sooner it will resume operations, the sooner we will have equal rights. We all, including me, are embarrassed that we can travel in our cars, and others cannot. As many as 900,000 people do not own private cars in the capital," Mr. Meskhishvili said in his televised interview with TV Pirveli.
