Metropolitan bishop Petre Tsaava has responded to the Synod meeting, saying that Patriarch Ilia II is not entitled to making arbitrary decisions. He also added that Ilia II must repent.
"He has to repent before the Georgian people. The unholy man has presided over the church for decades and posed as a holy man, making the Georgian people idolize him," Petre Tsaava told Rustavi 2.
According to the Patriarchate of Georgia, the Holy Synod meeting is set to be held on Feb 11.
