Footage showing a clash between the police and locals over the violation of quarantine laws, which allegedly took place in Marneuli Municipality, has been spread on social media today.

Report.ge contacted the MIA and learned that the incident occurred in Gardabani yesterday.

"More than ten people were gathered in the area, and the police recommended that they comply with the norms, and they behaved accordingly," MIA employees told us.

On March 21, the state of emergency was announced over coronavirus in the country, with one of its restrictions implying that a maximum of 10 people can gather.

Marneuli and Bolnisi municipalities were declared quarantine areas after a middle-aged woman having contacted dozens of people had proved positive for the novel virus.

Georgia has so far recorded 54 coronavirus cases, with eight recovered patients, 3,320 quarantines, and 23 provided with in-patient care.
