The Ministry of Defence of Georgia has spread a statement on fake Facebook pages under Irakli Gharibashvili's name.
"A number of fake web pages related to Georgian Defence Minister Irakli Gharibashvili's name are being periodically created on the social media. They aim to mislead and misinform the public.
These web pages disseminate misinformation and manipulate public opinion in accordance with some sort of political agenda.
The Ministry of Defence of Georgia and the Minister of Defence use the official Facebook page and twitter only. We appeal to the public to carefully treat information posted on these web pages," reads the statement.
