“A part of the population does not obey the compulsory recommendations. For instance, yesterday, Zugdidi was full of people,” – says Alexandre Motserelia, the Head of local self-government. He says that police will help to organize block-posts at the entrance and exit of Zugdidi and Poti.
The emergency restrictions are toughened in Samegrelo - Zemo Svaneti region territory. According to the state representative in local self-government, Zugdidi and Poti are the cities of high risk in terms of coronavirus spread.
“Our medical staff permanently warns the population that the safest way to protect from infection is to stay indoors. Not everybody listens to it; hence we have to toughen the restrictions and control measures.”- says Motserelia.
According to him, if the situation in Poti, as one of the transportation hubs, is out of control, it may lead us to drastic results.
“Lots of drivers come in the city with cargo; they stay there for a while. Additional control is needed in the city,” – he says.
The Coordination Council organized the meeting in Poti Mayor’s Office to discuss coronavirus risks in the area.
