The movement of people between Georgia and Russia will be suspended effective March 16. The government of Georgia declared the restriction.

Reportedly, the Georgian Prime Minister, Giorgi Gakharia, assigned the special representative the Prime Minister in Russian issues Zurab Abashidze to contact Grigory Karasin, the Russian party representative by phone and discuss the proceedings of so-called Prague Format.

“Taking into account risks related to coronavirus spread, the temporary suspension of movement for the citizens of Georgia and Russia effective March 16 was discussed. It was mentioned that the movement is not restricted for the citizens of Russia living in Georgia and the citizens of Georgia living in Russia to return to their motherland,” – the government statement reads.
