Mufti of Muslims of all Georgia called on population to calm down

The Mufti of the Muslim Division of all Georgia arrived at the Chokhatauri City Hall and called on the population to remain calm.

According to him, an agreement has been reached, the problem has been resolved, and the traditional Friday prayer will be performed in Buknari tomorrow.

"People of different ethnicities and religions lived in Georgia and contributed to building a united, strong country. This is still the case today. Ethnic and religious diversity is our historical and cultural treasure that needs protection. What happened in the village of Buknari two days ago is unfortunate.

Our goal is for the prayers to continue and for the village to return to peace. We are the people of one country; we are the people of one nation; we are one blood; we are one flesh. That is why this country is for everyone.

I think after yesterday, after the meeting, the local authorities confirmed that there would be no problem and that we had their support. The prayers will continue. We must keep calm, and the village will return to the old, peaceful times," said Adam Shantadze, Mufti of the Muslim Division of all Georgia.

The confrontation between Muslim and Christian citizens in the village of Buknari, Chokhatauri Municipality, escalated on January 12. Last night, the parties agreed that the dispute between Muslims and Christians in the village of Buknari ended.
