NCDC head Amiran Gamkrelidze says that Omicron reinfection rates are rather high.
In Gamkrelidze's words, the new coronavirus variant spreads at an exceptional pace, multiplying three or four times faster than the previously existing variants.''Also, it is a relatively vaccine-resistant COVID variant, and reinfection rates are lower in citizens who have already received their booster shots.'' he said.
According to Gamkrelidze, 253 Omicron cases have been officially confirmed in Georgia; however, the actual number of cases is four times higher.
