The European Union updated its list of safe countries to travel. Algeria got removed from the new list.
According to the decision of the Council of the European Union, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, and Uruguay remain on the list of safe countries.
China is also on the EU's list of safe countries, but traffic to China will resume in the EU only after China decides to open its borders.
Countries recognized as safe by the EU have to meet three main criteria. According to these criteria, the average number of COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people in the country over the last 14 days should be lower than the EU rate, and there should be a tendency for lowering the number of new cases in the country over the last two weeks.
Besides, the practice of testing, contact finding, and treatment in the country should be considered.
