Georgian Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze said that not much is yet known about the new Omicron coronavirus variant, but studies show that mainy young people catch the virus as a larger portion of them is unvaccinated compared to senior citizens. Also, its transmission rate is much faster than that of the delta.
According to Tikaradze, data from countries in which the variant has been spread say that patients catching it show milder symptoms. However, in her words, the variant needs to be subject to months-long observations for scientists to learn with what sort of mutation the world is dealing.
