The Orthodox world celebrates the Nativity of the Savior on January 7.

According to the Scriptures, Jesus Christ was born in a small cave in Bethlehem. For the first time, the Savior's Christmas was proclaimed to the pagan Magi. It was they who noticed the star of the East in the sky, which shone especially brightly, and heard the heavenly voice. It was a sign that a savior was born in the cave.

The Magi decided to come to the newborn Jesus and worship him. On Christmas day, he was given three gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Gold as king, frankincense as a god, and myrrh as a man.

At Christmas, with the blessing of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, a litany is held, and the Patriarch calls on all believers to light a candle by the window on Christmas Eve.
