Paata Imnadze, the Deputy Director of the National Center for Disease Control, hopes that the third wave of the coronavirus will not be devastating for Georgia and that they will be able to avoid it, as in the case of the first wave.
Imnadze advised the journalists to compare the statistics of Georgia with the indicators observed in other countries while talking about the epidemiological situation. He cited Ireland as an example.
"Number of infected has quadrupled in Ireland in the ten days of the New Year, even though the restrictions were stricter than ones in Georgia. So we are cautious about opening up and are trying to avoid the third wave," Imnadze said.
According to his forecast, the third wave may start from the end of February.
