The Public Relations Department of the Patriarchate of Georgia has responded to illegally detained Georgian citizen Zaza Gakheladze's release from custody.

''Zaza Gakheladze is free! He will return to his family shortly.

We congratulate Zaza, his family, relatives, and the entire country on this important and happy news.

May Lord bless Zaza Gakheladze, people who wish him well, and everybody who did their part and made strenuous efforts to release him,'' the statement reads.

Occupiers released Georgian Zaza Gakheladze from illegal custody today.

On Jul 11, 2021, occupants wounded and abducted Georgian citizen Zaza Gakheladze in the vicinity of the Skhvilo Fortress after he allegedly disobeyed military men.

The so-called court of the occupied Tskhinvali region sentenced Zaza Gakhaladze to 12 years and six months behind bars.
