The patriarch's secretary deacon Mikael Botkoveli said that the patriarchate is likely to make a statement on the released secret records in two days.

''We should wait for the patriarchate's statement on which they are still working. The statement will provide detailed information on our thoughts, and decisions,'' Mikael Botkoveli stated.

Paper-based and audio materials on the clergy, patriarchate members, politicians, journalists, and activists have recently been spread on the internet. The files concern their personal lives.

The link with files was sent to different media outlets on 13 September to their mail addresses.

The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has launched an investigation into the case.

The State Security Service of Georgia has also released a statement on the issue.
