The driver of Tianeti municipality Mayor Tamaz Mechiauri, Giorgi Khumarashvili, 22, who attempted suicide a few days ago, came out of a coma.
Following Khumarashvili's family and his lawyer, the patient suffers from a severe psycho-emotional condition, so they do not allow law enforcement officers to interrogate him.
Khumarashvili's mother, Nene Kharkhelauri, says that the young man cannot remember what happened.
"He does not understand where he was or how long. If an investigation starts and he is interrogated, he will experience severe stress, and I will not allow that," Nene Kharkhelauri declares.
"He fails to orient in time and space, and cannot remember details. His interrogation is impossible yet. I asked my client what led him to it; I mean asphyxiation. He, surprised, failed to answer me," the lawyer said.
The Georgian Interior Ministry launched an investigation over the case.
