"The ex-wife of a priest Lasha Chikovani accuses him of threatening with physical assault. Due to the allegations, the priest was sent to the monastery," Deacon Andria Jagmaidze, the head of the Patriarchate's public relations service, told report.ge.

It is unknown in which monastery and for how long the Patriarchate sent the clergyman. Deacon Andria Jaghmaidze did not speak about the details of the case.

Tbilisi City Court imposed bail of GEL 3,000 as a preventive measure on January 10.

Chikovani was charged with threatening a family member. The crime envisages a sentence of one to three years in prison.
