Today members of “Dare” movement are protesting at the President’s residence in Atoneli street. They symbolically “locked” the residence gate. Initially they made attempts to lock the residence door but the police cordon did not let the protesters close to the building. Law-enforcers did not let the blocking of the building. According to the protesters they didn’t have such plan. The protesters blame the President in inaction regarding the issues related to elections.
The citizens’ protest is caused by the election legislation change.
For the information: Yesterday the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili summoned the Parliament to resume work on the election code within the building of Parliament and to find a solution and give the population opportunity to implement the right on just and legal voting.
“I summon everyone to the Parliament, as it is the relevant place to find a decision which may possibly not meet the interests of all but will help to release the existing tension. I call for everyone to continue the work on the election code development to enable our citizens vote”, - said the President
