Public's fear of COVID cannot be felt, says Georgian health official

The public cannot feel the great risk we face today, and we need to change some elements in our behavior,'' Director-General of Infectious Diseases, AIDS and Clinical Immunology Research Center, Tengiz Tsertsvadze, said.

In Tsetsvadze's words, people have to avoid public gatherings.

''We must avoid public gatherings for two or a maximum of three months. I reiterate that despite Facebook users posting appeals and heartbreaking statements, the entire public's fear of COVID and its risks caused by crowded gatherings and refusal to wear facemasks cannot be felt. You cannot say no to vaccines under any circumstances. Also, if we refuse to change our behavioral pattern, risks of serious illnesses and deaths will increase,'' Tengiz Tsertsvadze declared.
