Repeat COVID reinfections detected in Georgia

Reinfection cases have been detected in Georgia, with citizens falling sick with COVID thrice.

Infection Diseases Specialist at the Tbilisi Infectious Disease Hospital Revaz Mechurchlishvili said that he falls short of information on precisely how many cases of repeat reinfection have been detected in Georgia. However, his patient, who has caught COVID thrice, showed mild symptoms only, such as a runny nose and headache.

In the specialist's words, one of the main causes of reinfection is that people recovering from COVID once think they are protected when they can actually catch it again and may also have complications.

Georgia has registered 4,921 new coronavirus cases.

A total of 4,471 citizens recovered in the past 24 hours and 58 died.

Georgia has so far recorded more than half a million coronavirus cases.
