As part of the investigation into the case of 24-year-old Murad Tsurtsumia, killed in Varketili settlement at Dampalo cemetery in Tbilisi, the expert re-examined the corpse of the deceased in the presence of his family.
Prosecutor Davit Gumberidze said the loss of the eye was not confirmed.
"The mother of the deceased had questions specifically about the eye. According to the information that was publicly reported, Tsurtsumia lost an eye as a result of torture. We had medical documentation as well as doctors' testimonials, and of course, the dead body was checked. Consequently, we came to see the victim again, to be sure, that no questions remain without answer," the prosecutor said.
According to him, the investigation is trying its best to take into account Murad Tsurtsumia's family's questions and to find out the truth.
A young man was killed at the cemetery in Tbilisi on January 2.
A special police officer has been arrested for the murder. He was remanded in custody by the Tbilisi City Court on January 7. The defendant pleaded guilty.
Another person was arrested in connection with the incident on January 8.
