Doctor Ekaterine Mkheidze, who has been ex-president Saakashvili's personal physician since 2018 starting in Holland, says that the situation is immensely scary as his health condition may worsen unexpectedly to such an extent that even a mobile intensive care unit may fail to arrive in time to save him.
In Mkheidze's words, Saakashvili must be taken to a private clinic.
''I do appeal to the prison administration, state institutions, and health ministry to view my words as an alarming warning. Mr. Saakashvili must already be under supervision.
I do warn you this is a critical margin; no further waiting can be allowed,'' Doctor Mkheidze said, adding that the ex-president needs 24/7 supervision.
Mikheil Saakashvili was detained on 1 October.
He declared a hunger strike 26 days ago.
