Sailors released from Libya returning to Georgia

Sailors released from Libya will return to Georgia today. They arrived in Istanbul yesterday, late at night, where they were met by the representative of Georgia, the Vice-Consul of Consulate General.

Two Georgian sailors, the Captain of REX, Genadi Komakhidze, and his assistant Roman Kakaladze, detained under the Tanzanian flag, in Libya on August 30, 2017, were released from custody on December 17. According to Vladimir Constantinid, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, the health condition of Komakhidze and Kakaladze is satisfactory.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Central Office of the Ministry, the Embassy of Georgia to the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Embassy of Georgia to the Republic of Turkey, permanent representation of Georgia to Ukraine and city of New York were actively involved in the release of sailors.
