"The liquidation of so-called Matrosov prison should be completed until May 1," Tea Tsulukiani, the Minister of Justice said during a briefing at the governmental administration.
According to her, all the prisoners got transported to the rehabilitated buildings on the territory of Rustavi Penitentiary Institutions # 12 and # 16 yesterday.
"Anyone familiar with the so-called Matrosov building knows it is very old, the prisoners themselves will say so or those who visited the place at least once, even as a lawyer. Last year, we planned to liquidate the place as a result of outdated infrastructure, the interest of prisoners and the priority of human rights. All the convicts or accused who were in # 9 got transferred to the new buildings in Rustavi," Tsulukiani said.
