The Strategic Pipeline Protection Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs held a tactical demonstration exercise at the Iagluji training shooting facility. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Ioseb Chelidze, the Director of the Strategic Pipeline Protection Department Zurab Chabashvili and heads of various departments of the Ministry, attended the training.
The purpose of the tactical demonstration exercise was to demonstrate to the Minister of the Internal Affairs and other senior officials the training of the Rapid Response Division of the Strategic Pipeline Protection Department.
During the tactical demonstration exercises, units from the SPPD demonstrated complex measures taken for a specific incident.
The Department of Strategic Pipeline Protection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs ensures the security of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum South Caucasus gas pipeline, the Supsa oil terminal, and their infrastructure facilities.
