According to the General Director of the Infectious Diseases Hospital, Tengiz Tsertsvadze, part of the patients undergoing treatment at home violates the rules of self-isolation.
He said infected patients walk on the street and travel on public transport.
"I have information that part of the approximately 35 000 patients that are undergoing treatment at home do not observe self-isolation, walk the streets, and travel by public transport.
This is a very serious violation and, at the same time, a serious factor that contributes to maintaining a high number of cases.
I categorically ask the part of the population that is infected and also the health care system or the executives to control people who have a mild form of covid, follow the rules of self-isolation for 12 days, do not leave the house under any circumstances, do not go out on the street, do not travel by public transport. They even visit their acquaintances and pose a threat to the population.
If this very bad precedent is not rectified, it will still be difficult for us to control new cases, even if we control the wearing of masks," Tsertsvadze stated.
