UNESCO has included the national park of Kolkheti Lowlands and the Mtirala National Park in Georgia's Kobuleti municipality, as well as the Kintrishi and Kobuleti Protected Areas on the World Heritage List. UNESCO confirmed today that these areas bear special importance for the entire world.

Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili defined UNESCO's move as international recognition and a red-letter day for the entire Black Sea region. ''Georgia has once again surfaced on the world map as the country with exceptional biodiversity,'' he stated.
