The video footage showing how Basilashvili is subjecting his ex-wife to violence will soon see the daylight, according to Neka Dorokashvili's lawyer Ana Abashidze.
"I assure you that a lot of people will very soon bite their tongues as the light will be shed on all evidence sooner or later. Forensic monitoring will be held, and everyone, including the Public Defender, will see the footage, which shows Basilashvili physically abusing his ex-spouse," Ana Abashidze said.
Basilashvili's lawyer, however, is asserting the opposite: in her words, the video footage fails to show Basilashvili abusing the woman.
Nikoloz Basilashvili, ranked 27th in the world and first in Georgia, was charged with assaulting his wife and was apprehended before his child.
Tbilisi City Court approved the defendant's motion and released him on GEL 100,000 bail.
Nikoloz Basilashvili issued a public apology after the incident.
