Sailors released from Libyan prison returned to Georgia.
According to one of the sailors, Genadi Komakhidze, they had to stay in a Libyan prison under challenging conditions. According to Komakhidze, they were often physically abused and were unable to communicate with their families.
"The living conditions were very severe. We slept on stones under thin bed covers for two years and four months," said the sailor returning from Libya.
Prisoners had no access to medical services and received the medicines with the help of the Turkish consulate.
According to the lawyer, the case was severe, but Georgian sailors helped with the investigation.
"There was a huge fine of one million three hundred thousand dollars, which made it even harder to solve the problem. The situation in Libya is not stable, so it was difficult even to deliver food or provide any assistance," the lawyer of the released Georgian sailors stated.
