Georgian Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze said that when the positive rate of coronavirus infection exceeds 4%, there will be talks about tightening restrictions.

According to her, stricter monitoring is underway over observing the restrictions existing in Georgia at this stage.

"When the infection rate exceeds 4%, we will start talking about lockdowns, closings. At this stage, the epidemiological situation is being monitored. Our approach is to enforce the existing regulations as strictly as possible and monitor their compliance. We desire that in the conditions of effective management, the economy would not stop," Tikaradze said.

As of April 17, the coronavirus infection rate in Georgia is as follows: daily - 3.58%, over the past 14 days - 2.91%, over the last seven days - 3.26%.
