The second semester of the 2020-2021 academic year will be resumed in the classrooms, except for the big cities of Georgia. The Deputy Minister of Education Ekaterine Dgebuadze stated about it at a special briefing.
According to the Deputy Minister, all schools are provided with appropriate disinfectants by the Ministry.
"The second semester of the 2020-2021 academic year will start following the order of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports issued on November 27. On January 18, the studies will start using a fully electronic distance learning model in cities: Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Rustavi, Telavi, Zugdidi, Zestaponi, Gori, Poti, Marneuli, and Gardabani. Educational institutions operating on the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara will also continue the educational process remotely. In all other public schools in Georgia, the teaching process will start in the classrooms," Ekaterine Dgebuadze stated.
Schools, where the learning process is resumed in the classrooms will be monitored by both the resource centers and the Ministry. In those schools where the second semester will be resumed in the classrooms, the Ministry, in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, has provided masks, remote, non-contact thermometers, barriers, and surface disinfectants.
"In the event of coronavirus cases, the first-semester-proven approach of point restrictions will continue. The Ministry of Education will systematically monitor the implementation of the rules set by the Ministry of Health. At about 1 700 schools where the educational process will be resumed, students will be able to get an education not remotely, but in the classrooms," Dgebuadze noted.
