Will regular metro passes be abolished? Tbilisi vice-mayor provides explanation

Tbilisi Vice-Mayor Irakli Khmaladze has expanded on the new public transport payment system.

According to Irakli Khmaladze, multiple uses of new cards will be possible, with citizens obliged to buy them once to incorporate various packages in them.

Also, each next payment will be allowed to make 15 minutes after the already made payment, with this excluding the possibility of two users exploiting the card.

''Metro cards will be left for now as citizens have deposits on them. We no longer have a one-time travel concept as the new payment system has been introduced, which has been totally adjusted to passengers' needs. For active users, the fare is lower. Student benefits, those for socially disadvantaged section of the public, and war veterans remain in force,'' the vice-mayor stressed.
