The young woman who was doused with petrol to be burned to death remains in critical condition, according to Guga Kashibadze, the head of the Khechinashvili University Hospital Burn Centre.
The patient has already undergone one operation and is now in the intensive care unit.
"Her condition remains unchanged, and she is still in intensive care. We removed dead tissues from her body, but we have not transplanted any tissues yet," Kashibadze said.
A young man, known only as Sh. G., who is now facing deliberate homicide charges, was detained on 30 June. The detainee has already pleaded guilty. The investigation is still underway.
On July 14, the Prosecutor's Office defined gender discrimination as a crime motive.
