The draw of EuroBasket 2022 took place in Berlin, Germany, where the identities of the rivals of the Georgian national team were revealed. These are Turkey, Russia, Spain, Belgium, Bulgaria.
Eurobasket will be held in four countries. Each host could choose a partner country (federation) to compete together with the host group. This practice comes from EuroBasket 2015 and aims to better plan the marketing and sports side of the event for the group stage host countries.
Germany has chosen Lithuania as a partner, Italy - Estonia, Georgia - Turkey, and the Czech Republic - Poland.
It was known in advance that in addition to Turkey (partner country), Russia would be included in the group along with Georgia. It was known in advance that the other three representatives of the IV basket would not be in our group during the lottery: Italy and the Czech Republic are co-hosts, while Germany has chosen Lithuania as a partner. Only Russia remained.
