Indian Olympic wrestling champion Sushil Kumar is suspected of killing an athlete and conspiracy to commit a crime, BBC writes.

According to the publication, on May 4, three people were injured in a confrontation at the sports stadium. Among them is 23-year-old athlete Sagar Dhankar, who later died at the hospital.

Police found a firearm in one of the cars parked near the stadium. Traces of blood were found on the sticks near the parking lot.

One of India’s most titled athletes, Sushil Kumar, who, in addition to a sports career, holds an official position in the sports department of the Delhi government, was involved in the controversy.

According to the BBC, Kumar fled the scene of the crime. The arrest of the athlete became possible only after three weeks.

The athlete himself denies the allegations.
