The Japanese government will reduce the number of foreign delegations to the Olympics. The reason is the limitations associated with the coronavirus pandemic, the Kyodo agency reveals.

In particular, the accompanying staff will be reduced to 11 people for the leaders of the states and to 5 people for the members of the Cabinet of Ministers. VIP guests will be required to have a negative coronavirus test at least 72 hours prior to arrival in Japan.

Earlier, the Sankei newspaper reported that the Japanese government was also considering a 50% reduction of spectator seats.

The Olympic Games in Tokyo, which was postponed due to the spread of the new coronavirus last year, will be held from July 23 to August 8, 2021.
