Sixteen people died out of the 17 trapped in a coal mine in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality on Sunday, news.cgtn.com reports.
As reported, exceeding carbon monoxide levels were detected in the mine around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, entrapping the people inside.
The only survivor of the incident has been sent to a hospital.
An investigation is in progress.
