Harry Shearer, who voiced African American character Dr. Julius Michael Hibbert for more than 30 years in The Fox Network's cult animated series The Simpsons, will no longer voice the character. Actor Kevin Michael Richardson will replace his character.
Last June, The Simpsons producers announced that the changes would apply to African American characters voiced by white actors.
In addition, in January 2020, actor Hank Azaria announced that he would no longer voice the Apu Nahasapeemapetilon character. The reason for this decision was not named.
