The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan participated in the panel discussion on Mountainous Karabakh conflict. The meeting was organized in the frames of the Munich Security Conference.

During the debates, named “New Tendencies of Mountainous Karabakh Conflict,” Aliyev declared that the bolsheviks’ representation in the region decided to “recognize Karabakh as a part of Azerbaijan in 1921.” That is the reason, that Aliyev considers the position of the Armenian party about Karabakh to be granted to Azerbaijan, does not correspond to the reality. Pashinyan mentioned that “the international society is tired” of one and the same arguments presented by the parties, that do not change for years. He offered gradual compromises of the positions to the President of Azerbaijan. Aliyev answered that he was not against the gradual solution of the problem. Though, at the same time, he requested Yerevan to stop the financing of the Mountainous Karabakh and drawdown the army from the conflict zone. The Prime Minister of Armenia answered that there was no Armenian army in the region, there were only local armed forces and Armenian volunteers there.

The official closure of the Munich Security Conference is on February 16.
