President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev says that Armenia's move to end its aggressive policy will lead to peace in the region.
"When they ask questions regarding the current conflict, I am responding that the military activities are underway in Azerbaijan's territory, with Azerbaijan trying to restore its territorial integrity to which it is absolutely entitled. I have informed the International Community of Armenia's plan to wage war. Armenia must be stopped. Unfortunately, the International Community and other parties involved in this conflict failed to influence Armenia. If they cannot stop the occupant, the Azerbaijani soldier will. Our success at the battlefield, settlements, strategic strongholds, which we managed to liberate, is a clear testimony that Azerbaijani soldiers and officers perform their duties well. Armenia must put a stop to its aggression instead of making demands on us, which are totally unacceptable," Aliyev declared.
On 27 September, tensions rose at the Azerbaijan-Armenia border, with attacks carried out and deaths reported.
