Reportedly, the patient who had a bubonic plague died of multiple organ failure.
On Friday, Bayan Nur city authorities locked down the territory to prevent the spread of the disease.
From 2009 to 2018, China reported 26 cases and 11 deaths. The third-level alert is announced in several regions over the bubonic plague cases.
The World Health Organization does not consider the current bubonic plague cases in China and Mongolia to be a danger.
