Ara Saghatelyan, former chief of staff of the National Assembly of Armenia, was detained on suspicion of organizing rallies, the Armenian news agency News.am reports.
The detainee's lawyer noted that the issue of the legality of Saghatelyan's detention will be discussed in court.
For several days, the citizens of Armenia, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, have been blocking streets in Yerevan's various administrative districts.
Nikol Pashinyan intends to dismiss almost 80% of government members.
